When we finally decided that we were going to completely change the seating in our boat and go to a dinette I started doodling. Really this happens with most of our projects! I think I got it from my mom, she was never without a sketch pad where she could lay out and plan out her vision for their yard.
Sketching out ideas and plans really helps Jeff and I get on the same page as to what we both have in mind for particular projects. Try it!!
In our previous post, HERE, we started with tearing the existing seating out and mocking up the plan with some cardboard. After the cardboard we were ready to really make this family dining area real! We hired a great guy Jeff knew in the area, Frank Liddell, to help get us going and teach Jeff some great woodworking tricks and skills.

First Jeff and Frank laid in the seat and the back rests. Then Jeff needed to cut out part of the floor lip and build the footing platform in the center. Of course he had plenty of help along the way!
After the floor was all glassed in and dry, Frank installed the completed, veneered pieces.
Then Jeff started installing the back and top pieces. Then we were ready for a good coat of paint on the interior and exterior pieces that were not veneered.
Now we are ready to pick out upholstery fabric and finish out this cozy new living area! We are so excited to see this project finally come to fruition! I can already see the kids lined up doing school work, friends gathered around while it is pouring outside as well as countless card games all shared around this corner of the boat!
I will post updates when we install the table and cushions!
