The windows that were in the boat when we purchased her, were simple Plexiglas panels bolted in and sealed, or were sealed at one point because they leaked a lot! We knew replacing these leaky crazed windows was definitely going to happen and since we were painting the boat it was a perfect time to pull them off and fill the holes.

Today Legacy hits the water for the first time in over 12 years!!! With a feather on her prop for luck, She was once again lifted and ready for launch!
It is finally time to get the last step in before we can put Legacy into the water, Bottom Paint!
This fall has been busy to say the least! In the middle of this whole boat project, Anya decided to go back to school and get her EMT and then went to fire academy to become a firefighter. That meant that work on the boat slowed a little. Every Tuesday and Thursday evening Jeff took all 4 kids to the local YMCA to go swimming while Anya was at drill or academy. Now all 4 kids are little fish, even Jase the 2 year old can swim without help for quite a ways!
Just when we thought we were ready for paint... Yes, we found more scraping that needed to take place. So after hand scraping the entire hull, we needed to scrape the entire topsides as well. This time we used a combination of hand held razor blades and commercial floor scrapers.
The day is finally here!! Moving Day! We all got to the boat early to clean up the area around where this boat had been sitting for the last maybe 10 years! Once we had the space cleared and the guys were ready, it was go time!
I grew up in the town of Bothell where the tag line was, "Welcome to Bothell, For a Day or a Lifetime!" We always thought that was just an awful tag line and had a very Hotel California feel. I hadn't thought of that tag line since, until we were in the middle of this prep to paint stage!!
Sometimes you just need a fresh start! This week after a long hiatus Jeff went to the boat after work and cleared all the junk, tools and other random items that have slowly accumulated in the boat over the past year. It is truly amazing how refreshing it is to come back to the boat now! We had taken quite a bit of time away from the boat for various life things. The kids finished the school year; Anya went back to school and finished up her EMT and became a National Registered EMT and joined our local volunteer fire department. We tackled a few projects that had been neglected around our house and enjoyed some great evenings with friends in the backyard. When we finally decided that we were going to completely change the seating in our boat and go to a dinette I started doodling. Really this happens with most of our projects! I think I got it from my mom, she was never without a sketch pad where she could lay out and plan out her vision for their yard.
Working on this boat has been such an awesome experience. Watching our kids grow and begin to really help out on each and every project as been so great! Jase is now stepping in and so far his favorites are the drill and vacuum!
